Question Should I get one good 512mb or two crappy ones?

Which one is better?

One of these (Crucial 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR400(PC3200)
http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Produ...82E16820146534

or a pair of corsair value select?

In the case of those two definally the pair of 512 for 1GB of memory. Acturally by the timming it looks like the 2X512 ram are better then the single 512 ram that you have listed.

I would note that Corsair is a respected memory manufacturer. I would definitely rather go with a gig.

Yeah dude, definitely go with the Value Select. What a coincedence, I just bought that exact 1gb pack from corsair a couple weeks ago. So just because it's value select doesn't mean it's crappy, especially with RAM. When you call something crappy is when you have to choose from something like a Celeron to a normal/high end processor, or a GeForce MX### to any other card. RAM is a lot different, it's mostly all the same except timing wise, and usually it doesn't make too big a difference.

No dude, I think he was saying 512mb good because Crucial makes it, and everyone knows crucial. I would think he said corsair is "crappy" because it's cheap and called "value select", which makes it sound cheap. But I'm not him, just trying to help.
