Default What's wrong with my LCD?

Hi all

I've got a 4 years old viewsonic 17" LCD.

It was all ok this morning until 10mins ago.

I restarted the computer 10 mins ago and the screen stays lit for around 3 seconds then it goes full dim.. I can barely see anything... I can't see where my mouse is move to at all.

I turned the LCD off and back on, again, it goes ok for few seconds then it goes full dim again..

Does anyone know what the problem is? Do I need a new LCD?

Thanks in advance

Wayne.

Are the cables in securely, also does it do it only when its in Windows, or even in BIOS? Could be power management setting the LCD to 0%? Or it could be bad display drivers, or LED Backlights.

actually, i just tried it again in bios. it goes black out in 1 sec.

it was ok for 10-15mins this morning when i turned it off for few hours... could it be a over-heat problem?

or time for a new one?

Well there you go!

Unfortunately by the other monitor working correctly you ruled out every other possibility. Good luck shopping for a new monitor, if you need help looking for one i would be glad to help you out

hi, thanks for you help!

i've got a 22" asus vw222 atm... i am using duo view for multi-tasking.
i don't play a lot of games.. only some mini flash games online.
using it mostly for web browsing and ms office.
any suggestions apart from asus?

kinda disappointed with viewsonic.. coz my older 15" one still works and the 17" died so quickly.....

ok, got another new 22" asus.

just have a quick question about my broken monitor.

coz what happened was i relocated my computer to my study room and i end up mixing my power cords with my old asus 22" with my 17" viewsonic and the power cord for my desktop.

does the cords have anything to do with it? would it be not enough power for the 17" viewsonic that's why it goes full dim?

Cheers.

the cords wont make a difference, they are standard to all monitors.
