Default connecting DVD rom

i have two wide cables that came with my motherboard, one says FDD and the other says HDD, the HDD (im assuming) would be for a floppy or older hard drive, and i thought the FDD might be for the dvd rom, but it doesnt look like the pins will match up, any idea what fdd is?

FDD would be for the fluffy drive, oh I'm sorry Floppy drive.

HDD would be ether for an optical drive or a hard drive. You should be able to hook up two different devices to each cable.
Use the HDD one.

Yeah, HDD = Hard Drive Disk. But as far as the IDE cables are concerned they can be used for any IDE device that has the right amount of pins.
