why the hdd?
boot diskette!!!
I would try with reinstall and if that's not working then i would get a second hdd to try it

ive had this problem before its more than likely gunna be the ide/sata cable or the hdd. and boot diskette in case u didnt know is a HARD DISK DRIVE..

u.k.man - are you able to try a different hard drive cable???? as Jlcollins005 said he has problems like this before and it could be that.

well my problem ended up being a bad hdd, but i changed the cables and swapped molex power connectors.

no it ended up bein a bad hard drive as i said, but before that i changed the ide ribbon and the molex power to see if that fixed it
