Two free versions of burning softwares used for a variety of different types of burns to disk even the iso image for the free Linux drive tool GParted as well as video files and data dvds are BurnOn and a newer StarBurn program by the same software company apparently.

The free version of BurnOn sees an IE popup after each burn for buying the full version if you can get past that annoyance. http://www.burnworld.com/burnoncddvd/

StarBurn is simply a free burning program found at http://www.rocketdivision.com/download_starburn.html

Hopefully one of these or even a third known as Deep Burner will work out with their DeepDVD Movie download seen at http://www.deepburner.com/?r=download

Nero is retail just like NeoDVD would be. Personally I'm waiting to get the latest for NeoDVD since that allows you to change the level into to see a longer video file like over 3hrs. burned to disk with the Best, Better, and Good setting not seen with other softwares. Most only burn at one level where anything over 2hrs. has to go onto a second dvd due to the amount of disk used.

The quality level adjustment allows for those all afternoon gatherings or birthday parties that run a bit longer then a 2hr. period. But the freebies are mainly good for burning mpeg II and avi files onto disk while a retail program prepares them for players. DeepDVD Movie looked the best suited for creating playable dvds out of dvd-rs to look over there as far as a free one. The others work better for data disks and seeing iso images burned to make bootable cds or dvds.

There are a large number of retail softwares that will work. But what would seem to work best for fallinfrom0feet would be more like NeoDVD as far as retail since you can increase the length of video that can fit onto a 4.2gb dvd-r while lowering the quality a little in order to see by way of optional setting seen with that program.

Most others will record only at one level with a time limit set. While Neodvd came as part of the software package included with video capture cards it is available as a separate retail product that seems to be more suitable for lengthy camcorder footage for seeing it all go onto disk while still being able to clip the beginning and ends off when selecting a particular video file and seeing how much at which level will fit. That also allow for one then one file if more then one tape is used in a camcorder.
