Finally done some research into what camera I want, pretty much I was only looking at Nikons, then I managed to have a look at some other cameras, so this is what I have seen so far:
Nikon D40 Nikon D60 Nikon D80 Pentax K20D That's what I have looked at and picked up and liked out of about 20 cameras I have looked at. Any ways basically I am looking for anyone who has some input as to what I should go for. By the way I was looking at this on ebay Tuffie.

Well, we would have to know a few more details first, but it's nice to see that you haven't over looked Pentax.
Just in case you didn't know the K20D is in a league far above the cameras listed. It's suited in the likes of D200/ D300 territory. Did you by chance mean the K200D or K10D? Anyways, are you starting this system fresh or do you have any preexisting gear? Just a few questions that would help are: - Do you have a price range? (Right now you range is basically 600-1300 lol). - What do you like shooting, what shooting conditions do you see your self in (day, night / indoor, outdoor etc)? - Do you plan on using an extensive flash system? So on and so fourth. Hope that helps, Bob

I have used all three Nikons stated above and can vouch for all of them as they are all great cameras, but it does depend on what you are going to be using it for. Have you considered a used Nikon D200? You could probably pick one up for a pretty reasonable price, as they have dropped because of the D300 being released.

vroom_skies: Yeah I did mean K20D, I am a beginner with a small amount of experience, it's the "Burst Shooting" feature on it that made me want it..
Yes this is a totaly new kit, so I am going to need every thing.. No price range really I just got a job that pays $900 a week so any camera. I like shooting anything I see, but mainly will be during the day, but I still will be getting a tripod for night shooting. Uhh should I be looking at using a good flash system? tidyboy21: What are the overall advantages of going to the D200? Tuffie.

Well first off, the D200 is built like a tank. The body it's self is made from Magnesium Alloy. And it's weather resistant. It shoots 5 frames per second. Feels great to hold due to the "sticky" rubber grip. It's a very fast camera, faster than the D40, D60 and D80.
Have a read of this. It compares the D80 to the D200.

Ok, I'm pretty sure your talking about the 20 fps burst. Don't let that hold any water, it's more or less a 'gimmick'. The true fps is 3, which isn't bad, but when you get into that price range you'd be hoping for 5+.
I was asking about the flash system, because Pentax is lagging behind in that regard. So if you need really good flash performance, I'd personally go with Nikon. So here is where we hit a wall. That wall being, just because you have the money does that mean you should actually spend it. You said you new to all this, the K20D & D200 are far from beginner cameras. I'm not saying you can't learn how to use them, it's just that they are geared towards prosumers. You'd prob be best off starting somewhere around the 800-1000 range and then getting some good glass. Personally on the Nikon side I wouldn't go below the D80. The D200 is a fine piece of equipment, it's just that your now venturing into the prosumer side again. If you are still going to venture into the 1-1.5k sector you might also want to check out: - Canon 40D - Fujifilm FinePix S5 Pro (Prob not for you lol) - Sony A700 - Samgsung GX-20 (basically the K20D) Hope that helps Bob

Although it seems I don't really need to make the jump to a D200, it looks like it would just be paying tonnes extra for nothing. Tuffie.

Also, worth noting is that the D80 is what I would consider a significant notch above the D40/D60 (to be honest I dont even look at the D40/D60).
I've not spent that much time with Nikons enough to really hate them like I do (a few months with D70/D70x/D80).... so at least u know my bias. Of the list I would recommend the the Pentax/D80. Something worth consdiering is the lenses you want... and the budget you have for them... both now and down the road.
