Default Forgot password help

So my gf was messing around on my laptop the other day and put a password on the log on to windows screen when you first boot up your laptop. Ive tried every thing i can think of and just cant get the password. Is there anyway i can bypass this? Im not sure if im even using the correct username.

I'm pretty sure you can still get into safe mode, then take of the password.

Sorry but im pretty computer alliterate anymore its a older laptop and im not sure how to get it into safe mode

figured out safe mode but takes me through a normal boot up and i have to still enter the password

when it boots up keep pressing F8
