Default sata hard drive, legacy power?

does it matter if you use a legacy connector on a sata hard drive? or do you have to use the sata power hook up from the PSU?

If it has a molex power connector its fine to use it. Just dont use both at the same time on most drives.

so i wouldnt gain or lose anything by using a 4 pin connector rather than the specific sata power wire from the HD?

(im laying out my wires trying to get the best routes before i start plugging in and zip tieng)
