Post On vs. Off

I have had this question for quite a while. Is it faster to charge your laptop while it is on or off. I saw something on gizmodo.com (i like to read the blog) about this but it was a while back. Anyone know?

Well, let me think about this. The laptop might have two power ports (hypothetically). Lets say you plug in the charger. The socket might give out a 100% power flow. However, the battery might take in only a 50% intake flow. This leaves 50% of the power to waste. However when the lappy is on, it might take the extra 'spilloff' and use it as power.

Oh yea, btw, everything i said was complete BS but its an interesting idea though

Recharge the laptop with the power off. All your juice from the charger will go to the battery, not to both the battery and the PC itself.

Exactly, a laptop (or any device for that matter), charges faster with the power off.

I doubt it will make any difference. A battery can only charge at such a rate, it probably only draws a fraction of a % of what a home socket is capable of. I'm certain it'll charge at the same rate on or off
