Does anyone know what video cards are compatible with the dell precision 470? I got the computer second-hand and need to replace the broken quadro fx card. I was thinking about getting a EVGA 256-P2-N751-TR GeForce 8600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130085 I am not using this machine for gaming - mostly just Autocad work. If anyone has any input or advice I'd appreciate it. Thanks |

Any PCI-e 16x card that stays within your power supplies watt./amperage specification, find this on the side sticker of the PSU (for amperage looking at the +12v rails). That 8600gt isn't a CAD card, but it may as well accomplish all you need..

Thanks, I get it now. I think I'm going to get this instead:
EVGA 256-P2-N761-AR GeForce 8600GTS 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130084 I think this will work better for CAD. |
