Default q6700 is running hot

very hot, idling at 80-90 in bios, im going to take the heatsink off and reinstall it, what else could it be??

80-90 what. if it was running that hot in reality then your computer would throttle and likely freeze. the odds are its actually running at 80-90 Fahrenheit, which is a really nice temperature.

no, 80-90 celsius, and it crashes when it hits 100 celsius, i detached my heatsink and it droped down to 40-50 celsius, one of the screws wasnt all the way down i guess

lol nice! its strange that you did not notice a severe performance difference at those prices, that would be like working with a single core!

Your heatsink is definitely detached or something. There's no way that CPU should have such high temperatures.

ya i unhooked it and reattached it and im down to idling in the 40's now (close one)
