Hi. I am building my HTPC. The computer itself will be in the office. I will have HDMI cables running from the office into (1) my bedroom and (2) my livingroom. That way I can have only my PC blue-ray player and watch it on the PC and my bedroom and living room.
My videocard, the Radeon 3870 (actually I will have 2 in crossfire mode) has HDMI out, but only transfer 5.1 audio. I want to be able to get 7.1 lossless audio out of my blue-rays. The motherboard that I got, the Asus Maximus Extreme comes with a soundcard - the SupremeFX II Audio Card. It has 8 channels which are output with 4 RCA jacks (2 channels from each I think). My questions are: 1) I will probably run some RCA cables also in order to connect my audio via analog in order to get the 7.1 sound. What kind of wires should I run and how do I connect them to my HDTV? If there are 4 RCA plugs, how do I connect to my HDTV which has 2 RCA plugs? 2) Does anyone know anything about this soundcard? Should I get a different one? 3) How do I control my computer from my bedroom and living room, so I don't have to get up and pause, rewind, etc. everytime I want to do that. Is there a remote control that will work through walls at about a 25 foot distance? 4) Finally, is there a program that I can use to upscale SD DVD's to 1080p? Is there a program that will (attempt to) upscale my DivX and XVid? |
