So here is the situation. Recently at my work place, everyone got a computer so we can type up our work instead of hand write it. We have 7 computers and all of them have a wireless Air-link internet connection. We are all connected together with the connection so that way we can all print from the one big printer. Now here is the thing, I have the connection to the internet but the boss put something in to the settings that dose NOT allow me to have access to the internet. The connection is there, the password to the business server is there but when I try to open up Explorer for example it dose not allow it. I tries playing around the settings but I'm no computer wiz.
It would be nice to have access to the internet to check my email during lunch. Dose anyone know what I can do to unblock what ever he blocked? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you |

sorry, we are unable to answere that because of our rules.
however from what you tell me, it seems that you dont have internet. you can have what is called intranet which is just a network that is just for your building. |

Well thats pretty much the only thing I know for sure is that we do have internet. One of the employees had to re-install her Air-Link and when the boss came in to type in the key she was able to use the internet. I asked the boss how is she able to use it and I am unable to while we both have the same settings and use the same sever and same key and he told me that when he had a guy come in to set up the wireless connections he had him put something in that would block us from using internet.
I most likely missed it but what rule dose not allow you to help me out with this situation? Thanks for the help cks_rudso@hotmail.com |

well i don't see why it is against our rules but....
I would say do what your fellow college did it is mostly likely a setting within that that the IT guy did for you to be unable to connect to the internet... but does your boss say why the IT guy did it so you couldn't access the internet.

I guess his afraid that if he gives internet to us, we won't do work. I'm a drug and alcohol rehab counselor for minors so I'm always in a group session with them and the only time I really have in front of my computer is during lunch time and maybe the last hour of the day.
The thing about my fellow co-worker that got internet after reinstalling her Air-Link system is that shes not going to have for very long. The boss tries to block her internet access but he doesn't know much about computers so he will probably have that guy come in again to block hers again. |

He has set up a rule that says you're not allowed to access internet. You are trying to bypass it, making your action illegal. If anyone helps him I will report the post. Sorry, it's the rules. Maybe you can access the internet from your colleague's computer.
