Looking at building a new PC and wanted to know if I am close to the best for my needs. Biggest 'black hole' for me is the Graphic cards.

System will be mainly used for Video processing/editing and to convert my 1000+ CD's to FLAC with EAC.

Dual networks would be useful to have a second segment. Also like the 'greenpower' hard drives and new 45nM processors (lower power). NOt sure if I need to add extra cooloing for the CPU.

Anyhow this is the list I have so far:

GigaByte GA-X48T-DQ6 use DDR3 RAM.
Change to GA-X48-DS4/ DQ6 instead.
Actually, I am not sure if it is necessary for you to get X48 chipset. P35 chipset should work fine in your case. E.g. GA-EP35-DS3R

GPU: 8600GT GDDR2 is a bit slow.
I suggest a 3650 GDDR3 instead

LightScribe DVD Writer - Why do you choose IDE? Just get SATA instead

Apperantly, you want to be a bit enviromental friendly, then why you choose a PSU with just 70% efficiency?
Get a PSU with higher efficiency!
CORSAIR CMPSU-450VX
SILVERSTONE ST50EF-SC 500W
PC Power & Cooling S610EPS 610W

case: Thermaltake Shark is a full tower case. Do you really need such a huge case?
I suggest go for a mid-ATX tower instead.

As I said Graphic cards are a mystery for me, not kept up with this, 10 years ago I knew my stuff but not anymore.

Will have to search for these PSU's, I was planning on buying from these guys:

but they don't have any of the one's you mention.

I am keen on efficiency where possible. System is not planned to run 24/7 (I have a Netgear ReadyNAS NV+ for that, with 4 1TB Greenpower drives

What I am keen to find is the best drive for converting CD's to FLAC (have over 1000 which I want to have on-line).

Just looked at the P35's.

These seem a bit old now? Steg is phasing these models out. Also not sure if they will work with the newer CPU's.

Having Dual SATA controllers is a nice to have so I can separate the Hard drives on one and the CD/DVD's onto the other. But as I think I have a spare SATA controller kicking around, I could always put this into the system too.

I am not familiar with those brand of PSU within that website/ your country, sorry can't help

is good. Just slight expensive...

Is just ONLY 114chf (roughly 1:1 exchange rate with the USD) so I don't think this is expensive?

asu-3650256 is 94.90
fox-8600gts is 99.90

So yes I could save a bit with one of these, but is it worht the saving? Maybe the HDMI out would be useful to connect to a small HDTV

For the Mainboard, the one you suggested looks good, but would have to add a second network port (which is not an issue).

Bring the cost down with the changes which is NICE :-)

Will see if I can find the PSU's you suggested here. They should exist but did want a 1 stop shop if possible.

Having Dual SATA controllers is a nice to have so I can separate the Hard drives on one and the CD/DVD's onto the other. But as I think I have a spare SATA controller kicking around, I could always put this into the system too.
