Hi guys,
I have just purchased a HP Presario V3000Z Laptop with the AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile Chipset and it has 1GB of Ram. I want to upgrade to 2GB. Here is the link to some info I found about the laptop and ram specs: http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/conf...submit1=Search The questions are: Is 2GB the max this laptop can take? Is the DDR2-677 ram the right one/size that I need? How hard is it to upgrade the ram myself? I have built desktop pc's before but never laptops. Is the process of upgrading ram in a pc similar to a laptop? Turn off laptop, take out battery, touch un-painted metal to eliminate static from your body, take off bottom plate ram cover, pull out existing ram (undo the clips), insert new ram, put plate on, battery in and turn it on! Is that the process? I just want to know so I don't screw my laptop as it is my first laptop. Is there any process after that? Such as, programming ram, erasing ram or anything like that? Or is it just basically plug and play? All help and advice is highly appreciated! Thankyou guys so much! Pauly73Drifter |

If they say 2GB is the max, it sounds good to me
I assume V3000Z is a generic model number as there are no detailed specifications on HP's website for it.To replace the memory, it's pretty much the same as a desktop. The slot locks work a little different but you should be able to figure it out by just looking at it. Here's HP's guide if you want to be sure before hand: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00774612.pdf

upgrading RAM is quite simple i guess but it kinda risky if you're careless
so be careful and always check and re-check it before you turn it on the procces is just like you said before, and it'll detected automatically check this link http://proccessor-mind.blogspot.com/...ur-laptop.html |
