Unhappy Fujitsu-Siemens Laptop not compatible with WinXP

Hi,

I have a Laptop Fujitsu-Siemens AMILO Li 2735 with Vista Home Basic installed.

when i tried to install windows XP, it struk me with this error message

Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed on your computer.
...
Setup can not continue. To quit setup press F3.

When i checked Fujitsu-Siemens website, it says that this laptop doesn't support XP, is there a way to install XP on it?

You can wipe the disc and try it. Back everything up first. You might need a new hard drive. What are your specs?

would i face the same thing if i install Linux, let's say Fedora for example?

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 @ 1.66GHz - 2MB Cache
RAM: 2GB RAM
VGA: Mobile Intel 965 Chipset Family 358MB (Dedicated: 128, Shared: 256)
HDD: Western Digital WD2500BEVS - 250GB, 8MB Buffer SATA
OS: Windows Vista Home Basic

There are no xp drivers for that model on Fujitsu-Siemens website. You would have to try and find xp drivers for all the hardware first by googling. What I would do is get a spare drive and try installing xp on it and see if you can get all the drivers to work. Keep the original drive in case you can't get xp to work, then all you would have to do is just put the vista hard drive back in the machine and your all set to go again.
