hey guys im new to the site.IF YOU DONT WANT TO READ THIS LONG STORY SKIP TO THE BOLD RED AT THE BOTTOM OF MY POST. if you dont mind im going to give you a little backround info on what the situation is. about a year ago i decided to build my own computer. so i basically just replaced parts on my old computer and it just soon ended up being compleltly replaced. every part was new. It was a budget build so the parts are really crappy. it has a intel core 2 duo processer. 2.13ghz, 2gb pc3200 ram
, it has a 80gb hd and another 160gb, sound blaster x-fi sound card. and a shitty AGP radeon x-800gto graphics card. and a 600watt apevia psu. about 8 months ago when i had this setup up and running properly it was a pretty nice computer handled all of the games i threw at it and everything, but now that the games have improved and stuff its not what i would say is a fast computer but it gets me by. so i dont really mind the setup im running right now and i dont really plan to upgrade for at least another year. i have my ps3 for games. so the computer is fine for now for what i use it for. but about a month ago one of the plugs for my speaker was only half way plugged into the back of the sound card. ( the sound card was unscrewed to the case, just in the mobo.sp i go to plug in the wire all the way into the sound card and the sound card pops slightly out of the motherboard causing my computer to turn off. when i went to start my computer it would start but the montior would recieve no signal. i tried everything i oculd think of. i thought worst case was that the HD was fried. So i just left it for a few weeks and then decided to try it again. i didnt revice a "no signal" from the monitor but i did get the error message when your video card isnt plugged to the psu. so i go check to see if the video card is both properly into the motherboard and reciveing power. it was. the psu worked and so did the mobo AGP slot. the fan on the card was working as well. so i guess the video card jsut got fried and isnt recinving power. so i took out the plug that goes from the montiro to the graphics card. and instead put in the blue cable instead of the white one so that i can plug it into my mobo. i did that booted up the comp and now it works. everything works. sound, internet, HDD..but now i have no graphics card, and when i go to properties of my computer it says my processer is running at 1.6ghz when its supposed to be at 2.13 and for some reason my cd/dvd player isnt working either. i remeber runnign daemon tools to run a game i had downloaded. and then disabling the cd player. but then i enabled it again. the cd player opens and closes but doesnt read discs. when i put a disc in the tray and close it nothing happens. not even the sound of the player trying to read the disc. so those are my problems..... -Please tell me of the fastest agp card out there. please dont tell me to switch to pci-e. i dont want to. -my 2.13ghz processer is running at 1.6ghz???? -and my dvd/cd player isnt reading any discs but opens and closes. |

your cpu, Check your computers power setting. Sometimes its on laptop or portable and it can cause the cpu to run at a slower speed.

well i decided the video card is fried. and so is my cd dvd player. so i bought:
LG dvd drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827136144 Foxconn pci-e mobo. no more agp for me. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813186138 G.skill 2gb ddr2 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231098 XFX 8800gt http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150252 i decided to do this because it costs just a little more than as if i were to do the fastest AGP card which was $230. and plus the fastest agp card is old and isnt really even that fast. |
