Question PC parts for dad help???

hello, am looking for a bit of quick help here
i'm buying my dad a new computer and here is what i have so far...

this is NOT a super high end machine and he'll never play crysis let alone know what that even is but he does like to mess around with the adobe master collection (video and images).

ONE THING HE IS REALLY ANAL ABOUT IS THAT THE COMPUTER IS QUIET! seriously, an extra 50 or 100 bucks to get it really quiet is money well spent in his mind.

HARD DRIVE
western digital caviar 500 gig $80 - 3 year warranty
OR
seagate barracuda 500 gig $80 - 5 year warranty

PROCESSOR
socket LGA775

Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 Socket LGA775, 2.66 GHz, 1333 MHz FSB, 6MB L2 Cache, 45nm (Retail Box) (BX80570E8200) $200 - 3 year warranty

VIDEO
Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT?? 500mb, PCI-express
which 8800 card (GT, GTS or ULTRA) came out AFTER the others and turned out to be a better deal than the previous 8800's? i used to know but forgot

MOTHERBOARD
which motherboard would be good and by which manufacturer?

RAM
i guess this depends on the motherboard but a good matched pair of 2gig ram would be my guess.

POWER SUPPLY
ATX something right??

MONITOR
will get a 22" wide one, any good recommendations?

CASE
ATX case and nothing special, will check with what they have in the store.

any help in one or all area's is much appreciated, thanks!!!

I would suggest an Asus mobo like this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131142

An antec case like this would probs do the job:

BenQ or a Hans-G 22" widescreen should be fine yes.

If you really want a quiet system just change all the case fans to silent ones, get silencing hardrive enclosures, and find really quiet cases.

CPU: Q6600
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L or Get any of P43 chipset when it is out
RAM: Get 2x 2GB DDR2 800/ 1066. RAM are cheap now, and if he do video, RAM is important.
HDD: Seasage.
Video Card: 8800GT 512MB is alright.
Case: Antec P180/ P182. They are heavy, but quiet.
PSU: PC Power & Cooling ultra-quiet Silencer 500W
LCD: Samsung / LG are always my first choice

yup yup, this looks great!!!
i like the mobo!!
ram sounds good!!
vid card is right on!!
might go for a 650W PS and will get the case in the store when we pick everything up.

just a question about the CPU.
some say to get a quad core now but is a quad running at 2.4 better than a duo running at 2.66?? or does it really matter?

was thinking a higher GHz duo-core would be a bit cheaper than a newer quad core or i am wrong?

PC Power & Cooling Silencer PSU have 610W version. Since you're usually single video card, 500W is enough. I recommend this just due to its noise level.

For CPU, most ppl will choose between E8400 and Q6600. Seldom heard ppl choose between E8200 and Q6600....

However, I do suggest stick to Q6600 due to your dad's application.
