Smile Newbs First Build Completed

Well this was my first computer building experience.

This site made it alot easier plus youtube. HaHa

Anyway specs are:

MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz
RAM: CORSAIR XMS2 2GB DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066
HD:Seagate Barracuda 7200rpm 500GB sata
GPU: EVGA 320-P2-N811-AR GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB
Cooling: ZALMAN CNPS9500
Case: Antec Sonata III
PSU: Antec Earthwatts 500W
OS: Vista Buisness


Monitor: Samsung 2253LW 22"(actually 21.6) 2ms
Keyboard: Logitech Wave
External hd: DIY Antec MX-100 and WD 320gb sata

^^ Nice build there! The whole bundle pic looks great. Youtube works wonders when looking for ideas and learning new stuff fast! Way to use your resources.

Cost was actually very low. Shopped around. Some best buy, circuit city, newegg, tiger, ebay and monitor at costco.

I spent about 6months gather the parts. Waiting for deals, sales, and mail in rebates.

Plus picked up a few things at the comp usa going out of buisness sale.

Case and power supply was 20 dollars. HAHA (felt like i was stealing it)
Vista and office 2007 purchased from college for 40 bucks each. (again felt like i was stealing it) *friend worked at college book store

I think the grand total was around 900 bucks without the external hard drive..the external hard drive put me over the thousand dollar mark.

Very nice system, but is there a reason why you went with the older G80-based 8800GTS?

no reason...well i guess one reason ...cheap.

dont remeber where i got it but i think it was less than 60 bucks.

Is there a way improve it by ocing it or best to upgrade it later?

Upgrade to the 9 series later.
