Default MS Word 2002 Problem

I'm trying to re0install word because I'm getting an error stating this:
.

Setup, however says that the patch is unaccessible or something similar. I even tried installing/uninstalling in safe mode, but it wouldn't let me because the administrator had set limitations to prevent the install (even under the Administrator account). I read on another forum that the install log could say something. It's posted below.

Thanks.

p.s. I haven't used Word lately, so I just recently noticed this problem.

You think I haven't tried that already?

I can't even get it to do anything with the install - it gets as far as "Preparing to install" and comes up saying to check the patch packet and or verify it's a microsoft patch. Then it quits.

Have you tried uninstalling it completely & reinstalling it? You could always try an alternative, such as OpenOffice, which is free..

I can't even uninstall it. I get the same problem.

I like openoffice just fine, it's just I prefer Word.
