Hello everyone, I am going to college next year and I am building a computer to take with me. This is the 5th or so computer i've built, but the first one that is going to use a lot of power and produce an enourmous amount of heat.
So I was wondering which kind of tower Mid or Full would be best choice, I would of course prefer mid because it takes up less space, but T own both a mid and a full tower and like them both. (might be a little more cramped in a dorm room) Here are the specs: MOBO: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813141005 CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115036 Video Card: SLI x2 (maybe 3 in the future) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150252 I also might get the XXX edition, but I believe it creates more heat and noise RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820211188 HD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148278 I also have 2 other hard drives both 250gig that are from old computers that I will be putting in as well, they are regular 7200 RPM drives PSU: Haven't decieded on which one yet, will depend on case... but it will be at least 750 WATT So I am assuming this rig is going to generate a ton of heat and was wondering if anyone could make some suggestions about which case and fans...etc Thanks, Jason EDIT: also hooking up a sound card and maybe killer network card |

Most any decent cooling mid or full tower would work fine assuming you have at least 2-3 120mm fans in it and you have aftermarket coolers. Not like your rig is going to be an ungodly heat machine or anything, pretty standard gaming system now.
The Antec 900 is very nice for cooling, I would check out that, the 1200 as well. |

can't use 3 8800 gt's in tri sli, only 8800gtx, 8800 ultra, and the 9800gtx posess the the ability to tri sli, and the antec 900 or the thermaltake armour mx+ i think is a mid tower

What heatsinks do you want to upgrade?
For video card, I would go with the Arctic Cooling Accelero S1 or the Zalman VF900 (the S1 is the dominant cooler here, but it's also really big). As for CPU cooler, look for the Arctic Cooling Freezer pro 7 if you don't want to pay a lot. The Tuniq Tower is great if you have a larger budget and the Ultra-120 Extreme is the best of the best.

I still have about 500$ left in my budget for the computer, so those heatsinks should work fine... and while i'm in this thread does anyone have suggestions for the computer parts?
I was thinking about getting a Q6600 or Q6700 instead of the E8500.. Suggestions would be great. |

I would look at a quad-core over a dual-core if you are looking to possibly use SLi in the future. Especially when figuring in overclocking, even if you never went SLi, you would have plenty of clock speed to have no problems gaming. At least at the moment, games are gpu bound.

I like full towers because they are really roomy and with the ever-increasing size of graphics cards its good to have a little extra space for the future.
