files and folders and printer and email sharing
I funally got my etherent wire so that now i am actually using the pc in the sig, and not the family emachines. anyways, i want to set it up where my mom can use all her old files on my pc and i can use the family pc's printer, a.k.a printer and file sharing. but there is one problem: no matter what i try, i can only get the computers to see each other, and printer and file sharing is activatd on each pc, but there is no sharing! and i think I MIGHT know why: Xp and Vista don't get allong that well. so can anyone give me some advice? also, can i enable it to be where my email set-up on vista through windows mail can be acssed on my pc w/xp through outlook or outlook express?

for file and printer sharing you have to set permissions, did you set those???
because i have a network of three computers two vista and one xp and i'm sharing a printer and files with no problems...

P.S. In your sig, that's how i learned 56% of what i know about computers.

you just have to right-click a folder that you want to share(this could also be the printer) and the in the sharing tab enable the permissions...
