Hi there, I'm new to wireless networking, but just setup one yesterday and keep running into a problem with the internet connection hanging-up, or just quits doing anything, when I try downloading something and surfing the net at the same time, or if I’m playing a game and use the internet at the same time.
My setup is a D-Link DIR-615 Router and a D-Link DWA-130 Adapter. The main computer is hard wired in the router and the second computer is using the wireless adapter. My ISP is SBC (now AT&T) Yahoo! DSL and I never had this problem when I was using just the one computer hooked right into the modem. When the connection goes inactive, I usually have to repair the connection and then it starts working again. It doesn’t take long to repair, but it just sucks because I have to restart download and wait for it to complete as I can’t surf the net at the same time. This definitely happens on the computer with the wireless adapt, but haven’t had a chance to double check the computer that is hard wired. Any changes to the settings I can make in the router to prevent this from happening? Thanks in advance for the help! Let me know if you need more info. |

Yea, it is just getting ridiculous now (and very irritating). I have to repair the connection like every five minutes. Anyone have any suggestions, or should I just contact the manufacturer of the wireless equipment and AT&T?
Thanks. |

try updating the Drivers for the wireless card in the wireless computer.
also make sure the network is secured and if it is a problem with the wireless card then the wired pc shoudl be fine.

Duh, didn't even think about updating the drivers for the wireless card.
![]() I'll try that when I get home, thanks for reminding me. I think the wired computer works fine, really haven't messed with it much since I've been trying to update the wireless computer. I should probably also add that the computers are in seperate rooms, seperated by a 6-8in. wall but the antenna are pointing directly at the adapter straight through the wall at no angle. Also, it should be a secured connection (WAP I think). I need to figure out how I can monitor if anyone else is connecting to it, through Windows as I rarely use the software that comes with equipment because it is usually just a variation of something already built into Windows. THanks! Last edited by Urobo[l]us; 06-05-2008 at 05:43 PM. |
