Okay let me tell you guys my situation, basically i got a few parts to upgrade also cause my mobo was crapping out. i got a new mobo, 8800gt pci-e, 2gb DDR2 ram, and a new cd/dvd player. i then find out that my mobo only had one IDE port but i need two. (one for my dvd player and one for my 80gb HD) i hVE 2 Harddrives, one 80 gig and another 160giig the 160 gig is SATA the 80 gig is about 85% full, with everything all my files, games, videos, music, operating system everything. a while ago i had both vista and XP running on my comp on that 80 gig. Vista was wack so i delted it but it would still ask me if i wanted earlier version of windows (XP) or vista upon start up. and i always gotta choose earlier version of windows. but for some reason it wasnt letting me choose when i booted up my comp with the new parts. i was guessing it wanted to do a repair but i cant run the hardrive and my dvd player to run windows disk at the same time since i only have one IDE port. So i decided to install windows on the 160gb. it starts up fine and all but i cant install drivers cause its not activated so i was wondering if there is a way i can have all the stuff on my 80 gig transfered to my 160 gig? and doing this all on a non activated windows/? the only transfers programs i see, you have to be on the hardrive that has all the info then u transfer it to an empty one. i want the oppossite.
drive. I want it so that its basically exactly like as if i was runnig my 80 gig just with another 70-80 gigs. same os, same backround, same icons, same EXACT thing. |

actuallly yes. first, make sure your 80GB is hooked up. then boot up from your 160GB. open "my computer" you should see 2 harddrive icons. open the one that has 80GB and copy all the files by opening another my copmuter and open the other one(the HD with 160gb) and copy the files where ever you neeed them. only things is that you cant switch over the OS. the background icons every thing else you can get off of the 80 gig.
as for the os, try making a bootable dvd/cd andd have the WINDOWS folder....id dont nkowhow to do that.....ill have to try sometime might be fun! either way, thats how ya can do it!!

okay so tried to copy and paste everyting but it says file or folder NTUSER cannot be copied because it is in use by another person or program. but the only real problem is that wen i go to boot up with my 80 gig which already has everyting on it when it gets to the choose either earlier version of windows or vista which is normal,i cant choose witch i want .MAkes it seem my keyboard isnt working butit does in the BIOS. so im thinking wndows repair can fix that right? so i put in my wndows disk and set itto first priority mode and nothing happens it says boot from disk then goes right back into the earlier version of windows or vista screen. please help!
