Hey guys, title says it all. I've never played so I'm looking for a decent guitar not too expensive, probably max would be like $200US but I'd prefer to keep it lower. Now, I did a really small research and found these to be two of the most popular (right?
) for around that price. The Ibanez GRX20 http://www.guitarcenter.com/Ibanez-G...17-i1150594.gc - or - Yamaha Pacifica012 http://www.guitarcenter.com/Yamaha-P...64-i1166881.gc So, which one would you think it's best for the price??? Any other recommendations?? THanks!

Honestly i'd look at a Rogue HH (150 bucks, or a setneck deluxe for 180ish)...
I've owned a black model fort awhile now, its got a 5 way pickup selector, and a volume and tone knob, and the finish is nice (in black, the white is actually a creamy color)... jumbo frets and easy to play neck (smooth)

I'd take the Ibanez out of those two. I own a Pacifica and an Ibanez RG350DX, I'd say the Ibanez was nicer to play and they generally make good quality guitars
![]() As for an amp, here's the one I have. It's my first ever amp, I'll probably get a bigger one soon, but this is more than loud enough! http://www.guitarcenter.com/Fender-F...98-i1145383.gc

it is true Ibanez make nice guitars, but they are also more Heavy Rock/Metal. Yamahas pacificas are meant to be some of the best for first time guitarists, they are meant to be nice to learn on. it also depends on the type of music you are going to be playing. but I personally would choose the yamaha, or look for a Fender Squire.

My first guitar was the Yamaha Pacifica, It was pretty easy to learn on. When I got it, it was all set up Ok, the action was good, the sound was great. To be honest, Now that I think about it, The Pacifica would be the better guitar out of the two. Like Dave mentioned, the Pacifica will have a good tone for everything, especially with it have a 5 way selector switch, to toggle between Humbucker or two Single Coils. Good call, Dave!

or you could do what my brother just did and buy a Gibson Les Paul for £1400... lol...
but seriously, a Stratocaster style guitar IMO is the best to learn on, anything from that Yamaha to a Fender Squire to a "real" Fender or whatever other makes there are... lol..
