advantage of a sound card

i have the new asus a8n with onboard 8 channel sound, now, is there and advantage to getting a sound card, like better quality or something like that, or is the onboard fine. I am just about to buy the creative S750 700 watt 7.1 system and i know my onboard could handle that, but like i said earlier would there be other advantages to buying a sound card. thanx for any help.

It prabally wont do surround sound but you will have to check, sound card are many times over rated, better speakers is ussally better then the card, but in your situation it might not handle it.

Your onboard ALC850 audio is very nice, but with such an high end surround system you'd be better of with say a Audigy 2-ZS, it's a cheap soundcard and it will give you better sound quality than the onboard chip.

Not with surround systems in this caliber.
