Well, my motherboard is sadly fried. PSU went with it, but the memory, cpu and gpu are all fine. So, could someone reccomend a motherboard that would be compatible with this computer? The motherboard has been discontinued and I really don't know what to do.
I can't afford to fully rebuild the computer, so what I have now will have to due. I cannot for the life of me remember the memory's DDR. How much does that effect the computer? I'll try to get the DDR. Thanks!

Taken from your sig, is this the board that fried?
DFI Lan-Party Ultra-D If it is, you have a socket 939 motherboard which are getting hard to find. Newegg has one but I wouldn't recommend this particular one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813135088 Computer Geeks has four: http://www.geeks.com/products_sc.asp?cat=473 You can also do the E-bay thing. Good luck! |

How much does the socket matter? Or can I use an AM2 socket type? What would I need to upgrade? Thanks.

the socket 939 and am2 proccessors, won't interchange. socket 939 motherboards are hard to find. try looking on ebay, and also try to google them and see what you get. google should bring up places like pricewatch.com that will list vendors that still have some instock

Anyone ever been to PC Planet? Are they legit?
http://www.pcplanetsystems.com/abc/p...ategory_id=118 I found my old motherboard, and I loved it. I think it simply overheated and I need to take better care of my computer, tbh. So, should I purchase this?

Also, if I were to switch my mobo, I would go with a core duo processor so can anyone reccomend some CPUs and mobos to accomodate my needs? I'm looking to play Age of Conan, EverQuest 2, basically I play A LOT of MMOs. I usually play for extensive hours and put my computer under pretty rough conditions I guess.
So I would only need to replace my CPU and mobo, correct? The PSU burnt out, but we got a new one already, and I don't see myself upgrading my card RIGHT NOW, even though it's a little out of date. And the memory should be fine with anything, correct? Thanks a lot.

You will have to replace the RAM also. You will be going from DDR to DDR2 or, if you want, DDR3.
Check out this thread: Need Help to Ensure Compatability He's about to purchase a very good setup. |
