Default Motherboard and soundcard

My Audigy ES's mic port is broken and I was wondering if it is possible to plug my mic into my motherboard and use my ES for sound and motherboard for my mic. Thanks for the help.

Possibly... If you plug it in to your motherboard and then go to Control Panel ==> Sounds And Audio Devices ==> Then go to the "Audio" tab, and make sure the Sound Recording Defualt Device is set to your Audigy ES sound card. Then go to the "Voice" tab and make sure for Voice Recording the default device is set for your Audigy ES sound card. Apply ==> OK.

I'm not sure whether that will make it work, as in forwarding the input from your mic into your soundcard and then outputting the sounds from your card to the speakers... Although it would make sense...
