Talking windows stop it!!!!!

hey guys,

is there a way i can stop windows from reading whats in my cd drives when i log on? like stop them spinning up?

because i have this lite-on drive which is a good burner and gets the job done quick but its noisy so i want to stop windows reading from the disk.

ive already disabled them from been read at boot so its silent then,its just when i log on

Dunno if uve ever heard of TweakWi i think it has an option for disableing the auto-run feature. Il have to have a look. If no1 else answers you before i get to then il let u know

All I ever use is Lite-on and I don't have that issue.

Disabling Auto-run wont do anything. Have you noticed that when you go to "My Computer" they will also spin up? I dont think there is any software to do this but, maybe. You could just put a toggle switch on the power cable. It would be alot easier if it was a molex powered. Let me know if you find a software solution.

I just found some info on it on a couple different sites but, I dont know if you should take the plungs and do it but, here's the info. One is a program but, only works on NT and 2000 and the other is a reg tweak but, doesnt look promising.

If I were you I'd probably mount the drive using those silencer-things/pads or whatever they were called... if you want to save, you can make some yourself. You can make drives go surprisingly quiet if you have them properly held in place...
