Default iPhone/iTouch/iPod Pricing

Since they cut the price of the iPhone in half, can we expect that they'll do the same with the iTouch? Doesn't seem like anyone would buy an iTouch if they could buy the iPhone for $100 cheaper. Even if the customer doesnt use the phone part, its still cheaper to get an iPhone (can you use an iPhone without getting a service plan).

But then...say apple cuts the price of the iTouch in half. Thatd leave the 8GB iTouch at 150. Thats the same price as a nano. No one will buy a nano if they can get an iTouch for the same price.

IDK, maybe im missing something but it seems to me that apple is in a pricing predicament. Im all for a cheaper iTouch though. Ive been dying to get one but 300 seems a little over priced.

BTW, wasnt really sure what topic to put this in. Mods please move it to where you feel it fits (if its not off-topic)

I think you have to buy the plan with the iPhone, but I could be wrong. And unless your planning on unlocking the phone, I also heard the service plan really sucks. Maybe they fixed it.
It does seem like the pricing should go down, but I'm sure apple will pull something out of their asses to make money off of us. Time will only tell...

The iphones reduced price is with the purchase of a new two year service agreement.

found this today found it interesting, and I think you may be able to just buy an iPhone at $199 for any provider here pretty soon

They reduced the price of the iphone to $199, but they upped the price of the plan that has to go with it, so you end up paying the same as before over the 2 years that your stuck with the plan. So don't think Apple isn't still making you to bend over for it now.

If you read that article that I posted you will see that Apple and AT&T no longer revenue share, so apple gets zero dollars from the plan costs. Apple just makes the money off of the sale. They lowered the price to attract more customers and don't be surprised when they support every GSM provider. Apple is in a win-win situation over the providers now and probably could care less which provider you use.
