Default CPU coolers

does anyone here have any experience with the ZEROtherm Nirvana? since i have never heard of this brand before looking on new egg, i'm skeptical to buy one. i currently have an 80mm version of this zalman cooler:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835118019

it works well, but is the loudest thing in my system. what i am debating against now though is this cooler:

and the above zalman. which one is quieter? and will they cool a Q6600 the same? thanks

i myself would go with he 9700 because I've only heard good about it and i like the brand name but im pretty sure that they would keep a Q6600 around the same temp. but for zerotherm, I've heard about them and heard good news about their butterfly coolers.

I for one would go with the 9700

yeah, i'm leaning towards the zalman. i have heard that the backplate on the zerotherm can short out your motherboard, which i really don't want obviously.

I'm pretty sure the Nirvana is quieter. Also take a look at the Scythe Inifinity, it can be the one of the quietest heatsinks out there that won't break your pocketbook.

Unless you have a thing for overpriced junk, you should steer clear of ZeroTherm and Zalman. Whoever designed that Nirvana crap was completely incompetent:

And if you replace your current Zalman with another, it's going to be another $50+ investment that you'll be looking to replace again in the near future because it won't be any quieter. All their fans use the same bearing type.

actually a very recommended cpu cooler here is the tuniq tower, it cools better then both of those heatsinks, is potentially quieter, and costs a tiny bit less. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835154001
