Default New build

With roughly $1000 to spend i found myself quite lucky....
MSY Technology in Sydney have great prices and as i live in Canberra
i asked a local puter store to match there prices.
my list is as follows..
(will be getting in roughly 2 weeks.. so if anyone has any ideas or hints..
i'm open for suggestion)
this build will be for gaming and hard core ripping :-)

Antec Twelve Hndred Case............................$240.00
Gigabyte GA-M52S-S3P AM2-Motherboard........$74.00
AM2 6400+ 3.2ghz CPU.................................$185.00
Coolermaster Extreme 650w PSU.....................$97.00
Gigabyte 512 8800GT Video Card....................$234.00
Pioneer Black 20x SATA DVDRW......................$33.00
Logitech G15 Keyboard.................................$87.00
Logitech G7 Mouse.......................................$90.00

= $1040.00

as the AM2 6400+ doesn't come with heatsink or fan
i was thinking of maybe a Tuniq Tower as i will be over clocking at a later stage... any sugestions to a cheaper alternative?

p.s. i already have a 22" benq and 4gb of ddr2 and hdd's here waiting
will be upgrading to a quad when the q9550 comes down in price

Overclocking will require an adequate cooler, but nothing extreme...

You won't need such an expensive case to go with that build. I'd also advise a Intel build, 1) Because Intel has had the edge for some time, 2) Intel's price to performance on processors is great, and 3) You're going to overclock. And from what I see, some extreme overclocking.

looks good, but like the previous poster I would go with intel over amd right now. The e8400 is an awesome buy for its performance. Thats what I went with. Good pick on the 8800GT too, I would say that is one of the best bangs for your buck out there right now.

I also agree that the case is a bit overkill. You don't need a 240 dollar case, ever, imo. I got my case pretty cheap and I love it, absolutely best case I have ever had.

You could probably find it elsewhere cheaper.. I don't think I payed that much for it.

the 900 is a great case, but if you plan on overclocking you wont be able to do much with the 6400+ because of how hot it runs right out of the box. go with an e8400 and a good p35/ p45 board or even an x38/x48 for more oc'ing ability.

Prices are probably different there. Who knows? A GTS G80 might be more expensive than the GT.
