Hello
My specs for my computer is a Pentium 4 2.66 with kingston 512mb DDR400 ram (PC3200). Everytime I open a program my computer starts lagging. Does it mean there is something wrong with the memory or maybe the memory is not compatible with my motherboard or cpu? I am using the ASUS P4P800 SE Motherboard. I am also having the same problem with my internet. It lags alot when I am browsing the internet. I am using the ethernet that is on the motherboard. I would like to ask if I used a separate ethernet card like a netgear would it fix the problem. If someone can help please reply back or PM me. Thank you all in advance for reading my post and giving me a response. Thanks |

First of all, CTRL + ALT + DLT and find out how many processes are running. I would say, conservativly, anything over 35 = noticable negative system performance. With that said, also download Spybot S & D, Adaware, Microsoft Antispyware, and spyware blaster. Update the definitions in all of those programs. Do you have an anti-virus program? If so, update the definitions in that as well. Restart your computer into safe mode and run all of those programs. If after that, you still have issues, defragment your harddrive, run scandisk, and using msconfig, limit your startup processes as much as you can. Hope this helps.
