They've been out for a while. IMO no it doesn't improve performance, especially with today's multi-core processors, having the network activity offloaded would make such a little difference. The only thing it does do is prioritize games higher up in the QoS protocol, but that may change at the router anyways.

I've heard it can take a toll on system stability and performance... Though that was on a forum and some guy was just moaning about it.
