Default Want a camera

So I would like a camera in the $200-300 range.
Was looking at the Powershot SD870 and just curious what else is out there.
Don't really care about size, as long as it isn't humongous.
TIA

Pretty general purpose stuff I guess.
To take pictures of my car, and landscapes at my camera are two notable things. But would like to be able to take pictures of people at family gatherings, etc.

TIA

The Canon Powershot SX100 looks good.

If you want a compact one the Olympus MJU 1010 looks good.
