Hi all, just wanted to know a bit about remote access. I have a friend whose pc needs looking at, is it possible that I can do this remotely. I was always under the impression that I would need a server to do this? What exactly would I need? Many thanks.

it's nothing of a big deal really, your friend only need to enable Remote desktop on his machine and give you an account for use.
Your machine has to be windows XP pro. However if he is running linux that's a different situation you would have to use a client such as real VNC or the like

XP Doesnt install Remote desktop during installation. My honest advice is to use Logmein. a fantastic remote access app. I cant believe no one suggested it. RDP is good, but only for internal use really (but even then RealVNC is better! ha ha). |
