Default the big duel core question!!

this has allways confused me about duel core processors, is a 1.6 ghz duel core the same as a 3.2 ghz single core

thanx

no you cant just add them up like that. a single core might have faster clock, but the newer dual core is more efficient per clock and can do much more tasks at once

Thats for a Pentium 4. Just about any Intel Core 2 or AMD X2 would wipe the floor with it.

currently, there is no dual core that is 3.2ghz stock speed except AMD's 6400 X2. like i said before dual cores are more efficient in its instructions so it does not need to have the same clock at single cores. pretty much almost any dual core will beat almost any single core. if you're on a budget, pick the cheapest dual you can find. preferably, go with intel but avoid the dual core cerlerons. gaming is more GPU based than CPU
