A friend is going to help me build a computer and here are the parts I was thinking of. I am going to ask him as well, but I figured I should ask here as well since he has exams this week. And we all know what mama says. Mama says better safe then sorry, so I am mostly concerned with:
a) Whether everything is compatible, & b) If I am missing any part, including: wires, cables, etc. Here is all the stuff (I cut out some pieces that I think were unnecessary, and added links to them in case I did cut something out that was): <>CASE<> COOLER MASTER CM Stacker STC-T01-UWK Silver/Black Aluminum/Steel ATX Full Tower Computer Case Model #: STC-T01-UWK Item #: N82E16811119039 Brand COOLER MASTER Series CM Stacker Model STC-T01-UWK Type ATX Full Tower Power Supply No Motherboard Compatibility Extended ATX External 5.25" Drive Bays 7 External 3.5" Drive Bays 1 Internal 3.5" Drive Bays 3 Expansion Slots 7 Front Ports USB, Audio, IEEE1394 80mm Fans 1 120mm Fans 2 Air duct No Dimensions 23"x 9"x 21.2" (DxWxH) http://www2.newegg.com/product/produ...82E16811119039 <>POWER SUPPLY<> Antec NeoPower ATX 480W Power Supply 100 - 240V TUV, UL, CUL, CE, CB, FCC Model #: NeoPower Item #: N82E16817103924 Brand Antec Model NeoPower Type ATX Maximum Power 480W Fans 1 PFC Active Dual +12V Yes Power Good Signal 100-500ms Hold-up Time 20ms Efficiency > 70% Over Voltage Protection YES Overload Protection YES Input Voltage 100 - 240V Input Frequency Range 47 - 63Hz Input Current 12A @ 115AC, 6A @ 230AC Output +3.3V@30A, +5V@38A, +12V1@18A, +12V2@15A, -12V@1A, +5VSB@2A MTBF >80,000 Hours Approvals TUV, UL, CUL, CE, CB, FCC http://www2.newegg.com/product/produ...82E16817103924 <>MOTHERBOARD<> MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail Model #: K8N NEO4 Platinum Item #: N82E16813130484 Brand: MSI Model: K8N Neo4 Platinum CPU Socket Type: Socket 939 CPU Type: Athlon 64 FX/Athlon 64 FSB: 1000MHz Hyper Transport North Bridge: NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra Number of DDR Slots 4x 184pin DDR DDR Standard: DDR 400 (PC 3200) Maximum Memory Supported: 4GB Dual Channel Supported: Yes PCI-E x16: 1 PCI-E x1: 1 PCI Slots: 4 Other Slots: 1 x PCI-Express X 4 PATA: 2 x ATA 133 up to 4 Devices PATA RAID: NV RAID 0/1/0+1 JBOD SATA: 4 x SATA2 300 SATA RAID: NV RAID 0/1/0+1 JBOD Additional SATA: 4 x SATA 150 Additional SATA RAID: RAID 0/1/0+1/5 JBOD Integrated Video: No Audio Chipset: Realtek ALC850 Audio Channels: 8 Channels LAN Chipset: Marvell 88E1111 PHY LAN Speed: 10/100/1000Mbps Second LAN Chipset: Marvell 88E8053 Second LAN Speed: 10/100/1000Mbps Max LAN Speed: Dual 10/100/1000Mbps PS/2: 2 COM: 1 LPT: 1 USB: 4x USB2.0 IEEE1394: 1x 1394 S/PDIF Out: 1x Optical and 1x Coaxial Audio Ports: 5 jacks Onboard USB Connectors: 6x USB2.0 (3x headers) Onboard 1394 Connectors: 1x 1394a Form Factor: ATX http://www2.newegg.com/Product/Produ...82E16813130484 <>PROCESSOR<>AMD Athlon 64 3800+ Newcastle 1GHz FSB 512KB L2 Cache Socket 939 Processor Model #: ADA3800AWBOX Item #: N82E16819103465 Series: Athlon 64 CPU Socket Type: Socket 939 Core: Newcastle Name: Athlon 64 3800+ Operating Frequency: 2.4GHz FSB: 1GHz L1 Cache: 64KB+64KB L2 Cache: 512KB Process: 0.13 µm Hyper-Transport Support: Yes Multimedia Instruction: MMX, SSE, SSE2, 3DNOW! Looks like a sweet setup! Nice man! Oh, I have the Cooler Master Stacker: one awesome case! Silent and keeps your components nice and cool! It's nice to work inside, it's so big!

is there a reason you've gone for 2 hdds, i notice one is 10k rpm, maybe you should consider scrapping the Raptor and getting 2 Caviar of the same spec, then raid them. Will give you more space and faster avg seek times.

Personally I would instead of getting the geforce 6800 ULTRA get a geforce 6800 GT. If you go by the prices at newegg this will save you $150. Then you could easily use that money to get a skt 939 motherboard instead and a athlon 64 3500+.
I also believe the raptors are extremly overrated. I would just get anouther harddrive for cheaper and get more space. The difference in speed you would proberly not notice.

As for the system - why the crappy monitor? You've got the super expensive gfx card so you should at least get a half way decent monitor for it. |

like mgoldb2 said, get a socket 939, ur overall rig rocks, all of amd's new processors such as the dual core will be on 939 only so you will have trouble upgrading in the future, and then get the 3500 processor with it
for ~100$ more u can get a bundle here: http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec....ria=MB-BA20954 please get a mobo+cpu bundle at this site, best prices on them i can find, if u want u can get the msi or dfi boards |
