Something installed is seeing one process hanging up there. One fast way to isolate the source would be reducing the startup items seen in the msconfig utility in the event one program saw a bad or incomplete install.

The processes tab in the task manager is another big help at times for seeing just what is tieing up cpu time. These are a pair of quick on the spot tips for debugging you can use to spot why this is being seen especially with a recent clean install.

Cmdagent.exe is the process thats keeping the cpu at 100% its a system right now preventing me from doing much at all, i cant stop it or change its priority lower...

i will try droping all the startup stuff and go from there.

once i get it to work for me again i will post a HJT log up

That file references the comodo firewall. Stop that from running on bootup and just stay with the xp firewall and see if that helps any.

johnb35 seems to have IDed the process causing the problem. You likely had a bad install of Comodo which generally as well as Jetico Personal Firewall are two popular free programs. Instead of counting on the Windows firewall(just about useless anyways) you can add some protection with Spyware Terminator since that will place an active guard around the system registry as well as remove bugs. http://www.spywareterminator.com/

I;ve been using this one for some time now on both XP and Vista with favorable results. Even if you using the add/remove or Programs+Features as now seen in Vista the ST program will prompt to allow or deny any changes when going to remove a program as well as seeing anything new go on.

One fast way to isolate the source would be reducing the startup items seen in the msconfig utility in the event one program saw a bad or incomplete install. The processes tab in the task manager is another big help at times for seeing just what is tieing up cpu time. These are a pair of quick on the spot tips for debugging you can use to spot why this is being seen especially with a recent clean install.
