Boosting Audio in speakers (laptops & desktops)

DOES ANY1 KNOW A METHOD TO BOOST UR LAPTOP OR DESKTOP'S SPEAKERS????
i own an hp laptop, but the audio is low (for me), but i know there's a method where u can boost audio BUT the big problem is that i dont remember what to do... PLEASE HELP!!!
Any help is quite appreciated.
