I think you may find it will support 4 gig if you have SP1 installed

What does it have to do with SP1? The 32-bit architecture doesn't support 4gb ram. The max it can handle is 3.25GB. And there is an explanation for it, but you have to look it up in google.com or wikipedia. Because, I don't really know it.

Technically, 32bit OSes can easily handle that much ram, but some drivers break when you break the 4G barrier, so Microsoft has put a limitation into xp and vista, so it is a no go. SP1 just displays your installed ram differently

Like I said - "I think " !! Rather than doing what a lot of people do here and say "it WILL" in a situation where they're unsure .

I have read of those who have seen performance gains when going to 4 gb of RAM when using CAD systems. Microsoft says its not possible but performance gains are very noticeable when using CAD, so I would say go for it.

actually, 32 bit architecture can address 4gb of memory. the reason most ppl see 3.25gb of RAM is bc the other 750mb goes to other memory in the computer.

that woud be used for addresing pci, devices, video cards, and all things that use busses. The more devices you have installed the less ram you can address.

Like said hardware addresses eats up some memory, depending on what hardware you have will determine how much memory is left between 3 and 4gbs.

I have 4GB's in my Vista 32 box and it works nicely. Windows recognizes it all but only utilizes 3.32.
