Laptop won't turn off

My laptop won't switch off. I tried turning the on off switch and closing the main screen. It just doesn't seem to turn off. Always has this blue light on. How can I totally turn it off. Also it seems to just shutdown by itself and take forever to do so. Any advice?

How are you shutting it down???

What are the specs of the PC???

What is your OS???

you should turn off the computer by doing the 'shut down' option

, maybe if u have too many progs for ur laptop to turn off, it takes a while to close all the programs, how old is ur laptop

but if you want for force the shut down for whatever reason then press and hold the power button.
