Hey guys a buddy of mine is going away to college and was wondering what laptop he should get. He'll be doing mostly school work and internet, while playing the occasional game in his down time. Probably nothing to graphics intensive, but a nice GFX card would be nice. His budget is close to $600, any suggestions?

There isn't any better laptop graphics on that price. Maybe he should play on to a desktop on his free time. Maybe use the laptop for internet surfing and research. If he would look for a nice graphics on laptop, a higher budget will be needed.

If he wants to play any fairly new game (occasional or all the time), you won't be able to find a laptop that can handle it for $600. Now for internet browsing, running office apps, etc, you can find a nice laptop with Vista for around $400-$500.
