Little confused

Hi, new guy here. I just bought my first laptop and it is a sony viao. I used cpuz to have a look at it and my pc is only running at 997.5 MHz. The multi is set to 6 and bus is 166.3. Its a intell t5550 chip thats suppose to be running at 1.83 MHz. I try putting a load on cpu but it doesn't change. Is it 997.5 x 2 and thats the 1.8 rating or is something wrong ?

I believe the intel speedstep program is throttling back your cpu so it don't get so hot. it will throttle it back up when needed. If you don't want it enabled look for the option in bios.

How do i get into bios on this laptop. Thanks for quick reply. Throttling back... i loaded up a game and the speed didn't increse

on bootup, it does all it's checks and on the bottom the screen it says how to get into the setup, might be F8

I got in to bios but it shows me NO options. Like 1 or 2 in each catagory....

Then it might be a software program that loads on bootup. But usually intel speedstep is in the bios.
