That's amazing!

How did you do it? Is it a setting on your camera?

It's actually computer software.

Heres my collection. I need to learn the art of tone mapping still.

All of these were taken with my old camera using jpegs. I have yet to get an HDR shot with my new camera...I should get on that

Thanks!

I wish it was a setting on my camera... Unfortunately it's a bit more complicated than that...

Basically you take several images (in the same exact position) with different lighting (I used a tripod and changed shutter speed.) Of course, if you have an SLR capable of shooting RAW photos and output several files, some being brighter than others. Then you put the images in the software, I use http://www.hdrsoft.com/

Then just mess around with the software and you should get it...

Here is an example of HDR. I mean, you could go into the technicals, but its about creating a single image that has a HIGH range of colors and contrasts. (Fair warning, its been a while since Ive done this, I might have gotten my f-stops backwords).

Example, this picture was taken with the low fstop, see how the sky is taken nicely but the front trees cant be seen.

This was with a high fstop,

The trees can be seen but the sky is very bland. There isnt a simple way of capturing both at the same time. So HDR comes in, "blends" the images, to where both the sky, and the frontal trees can be seen.

What is not an example of an HDR?

Why is it not HDR?
This, everything can clearly be seen ,the far off light source (sky) has no details, the f stops are pretty much the same...

Great panoramic view though .

I suppose if your going for that "hand painted" look then yeah, an HDR image would suit you, have fun .
Oh yeah, I used photoshop for the first photo. And the second with this (free) program.
