Motherboard with good overclocking capabilities

I will be doing a high end build soon and starting to shop around for a high end board that will give me good abilities for overclocking Core 2 Duo or Core 2 Quad processors (haven't decided on the clock speed yet). Budget is not a concern. Mainly it needs it to be high quality stable motherboard. I will be building my system with future SLI utilization. In other words when system is all done it will be a high end gaming system. Here are a few motherboards that I was looking at:

1. ASUS Striker II Extreme LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 790i Ultra SLI DDR3

When I built my computers in the past, I always used ASUS boards. But it seems that I lot of people complaining about Striker II board so I am not sure what to think. Anybody has this board here? What is your opinion on this board?

Any suggestions on different boards are appreciated.

asus p5k has had some good reviews for overclocking etc!

ive got one with my q6600, never overclocked yet but ive looked at all the settings in bios and there are a lot of tweeks you can do compared to my old asus board!

its also got a function that when your overclock fails and it doesnt boot just switch it off and then back on, there will be a message comes up to reset bios then it comes up overclock fail and boots up as normal

no need to open case a mess on with cmos!!

I also have the Asus P5K and the BIOS is good for overclockers. I run slightly overclocked and that reset function banged in once when I pushed it over and on next reboot it was back to standard clock settings.

the striker has had good results but try looking at the foxconn blackops motherboard, or the dreadnaught if you want 790i(i have no idea when the 790i version will be available)

If you are looking at the evga 790i board, i would go for it, i have it, and couldnt be happier. Only thing is, a percentage of the boards have problems with hardlocks/freezing which requires an rma, but if you receive a working board, they overclock nice, i have my q9450@ 3.4ghz without having to touch the nb/sb/fsb/cpu voltage, have them all set to stock, and the fsb could probably go further, i just havent tried going past 3.4Ghz yet.

I had the Asus P5K Deluxe before and it was a great motherboard, plenty of tweaks and great for overclocking. The Gigabyte motherboard I have now is no where near as good, it has the stupid +0.2V settings, instead of the actual voltage.

another +1 i ran the FSB here at 2050MHZ for awhile on stock voltages all-round, and when i tried to step up the processor too much that automatic reset feature was a god-send. it failed to pass bios, the computer turned off for a sec, and re-booted with my processor clocked at something like 1.4ghz.

I love that auto-reset feature, the Gigabyte motherboard I have now has a similar feature, but it erased all the BIOS settings. The P5K temporarily resets them, but if you go back into the BIOS they are all there still so you know where you left off.

It also has memory to store profiles, which is pretty neat.
