Default What do I need to upgrade?

Hi, I want to upgrade my pc to a fast gaming machine and it is a while since i upgraded... from my spec below do you think I need to upgrade my motherboard, processor and graphics card or would i get away with just upgrading the graphics card or processor?

I currently have:

Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe S939 NF4 SLI ATX - Sound 2xgln 1394 USB2 SATA
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ Socket 939 San Diego Retail Boxed Processor
2 x XFX GEFORCE 6800GS (SLI mode)
Kingston 2GB Kit (2x1GB) DDR 400MHz/PC3200 CL3 unbuffered 2.6V

Do you think i should get an extra 2 gb memory also?

I want to try get my pc up to top spec at a reasonable cost so any help you can provide will be gratefully recieved

Thanks
James

Well 939 are few are far between now, been discontinued. 2gbs is not bad. With system you have with out going for a new board and processor upgrading your video card would do the most.

939s have been discontinued, might be a lil tricky finding any decend candidates... I've tried, but no luck.

There's no way you'll get it to top specs, the only way to do that (as stranglehold said) would be to get a new mobo (and other components with it). What kinda games you're planning to play? If you want to play something like Crysis, well, you need a new build. If you're not planning to play anything too intensive, a good GFX card would do the trick.

The 8-series cards form nVidia kicks your SLI setup's butt, and are being sold pretty cheap. What's your budget? If possible, grab a 4850 or 4870, ($200/$300), those things are really impressive and would probably be good enough when you get a new build, you could get another one of those and Xfire them (This is probably what I would do).

Cheers for all your replies... as i suspected to achieve the kind of system I want, I will need to upgrade the motherboard upwards and i know if i only change the graphics card that I won't be happy.

I think my psu should be ok (hope so anyway) as i've only recently changed that, this is what i have - Antec TruePower Trio 650W PSU - With 3x 12v Rails and 120mm Fan

I've lost touch a little with current hardware and graphics cards lately, is there a combination of motherboard, processor and graphics card that you could recommend for a higher spec machine? I'm not looking to spend more than £350- £400ish but may consider more if it would get me better performance and obviously the cheaper the better

Cheers loads for your help
