Not necessarily. The motherboard should re-adjust to the settings. However, if you've already overclocked or done some other work, you WILL lose those.

I thought the question was running without the actual heat sink, not just the fan In which case, yeah, that's fine for some CPU's, but older ones might still get a bit too hot for your liking.

Older ones are also more tolerant of heat, but it doesn't matter since he posted which processor he has and I already posted evidence that it's fine, so I don't know why people are still posting their paranoid speculations.

Cripes, I said I *misread* his Post. When I realized what he actually posted, I retracted my earlier statement and was in agreement with the consensus. Point out my 'paranoid speculation' in me saying "In which case, yeah, that's fine for some CPU's, but older ones might still get a bit too hot for your liking", because, honestly, it sounds more like me saying it's a matter of personal preference.

Jesus, some people need to GTFO their horses and stop this petty BS.

If you have to ask, you're probably wrong. I only quoted you to comment that there'd be nothing to worry about with older processors either since they're more tolerant to heat. The rest of my post was in response to others still speculating "HURR SOUNDS RISKY" after I already demonstrated that it's fine.

Holy crap imsati, are you really this thick? Here, I'll help you read step by step:

Below is my initial response to you getting all bent out of shape for no reason, I've highlighted in bold and tagged with numbers the parts I'm going to help you get past your reading deficiency with.

1. Well let's see, you asked if you had offended me in some way and then proceeded to complain about it as if the answer was yes. I responded (not even to your entire post), but directly to that sentence that if you have to ask (if I'm offended) you're probably wrong (you assumed I was offended when I wasn't). Seems the first post was not the only one you misread (why do you keep bringing that up anyway? I never commented on you misreading the first post).

2. Here's where I confirm that the only relation between my post and yours was the technical question of whether older processors are more susceptible to overheating or not.

3. I confirm (again) that the remainder of my post was directed to other people.


Now, I'm sincerely sorry that your reading deficiency has caused you to believe you're being victimized in some way. The real "stupidity that permeates this board" isn't people like me, it's children - immature children who can't accept criticism and think the world revolves around them. And I'm not literally referring to those who are underage, there are adults who fit this description and sub-18 individuals who do not, but I refer to all these people as children.

In order for these children to thrive, they'd require a forum where nobody disagrees with each other. Every post would have to zealously agree with the previous without so much as a hint of negativity, because once these children sense such, that's all they see. The rest of the post doesn't matter, because it contained something the child has met with disfavor, and naturally (as a child), the child assumes it was directed toward him or her.

Immediately the child forgets what the thread was about and is only interested in regurgitating words at the offender that the child has learned to associate with "I don't like that poster," like "troll" and "immature." Please further note that if the offender engages the child in any way, the offender is considered to be the one that is perpetuating the argument, i.e. the child is given free run to regurgitate his stupidities and the offender is not to interfere.

The child then goes on to expect that the offending poster be banned to preserve the child's rightful place on the Internet where he or she is always right (in preparation for the real world, where everyone is sure to agree with the child all the time).
