Exclamation FORCERWARE: help!

Hey,

So, I have a 8800m gts in my p-172s fx gateway laptop. I have downloaded the forceware drivers, and they have upped my computer performance considerably. It almost seems suspicious; my question is whether the forceware drivers could damage my card, and if using them on my laptop is considered overclocking. Thanks a million: I am so confused, no one seems to give me a straight answer to this...

What drivers are you specifically referring to? Normal Desktop card drivers? I didn't know you could install these without a modded inf. They refuse to install otherwise.

Which is a good place to start if the OEM drivers aren't giving you good performance. Go to http://laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/vista64 and try this out for size, (remember to choose the correct OS on the left hand menu)

3. Still on the LaptopVideo2Go website, right click the .INF and hit "Save Link As...". Put it somewhere.

4. Now, take that .INF file, and drag it into the extracted drivers folder. Overwrite when prompted.

5. Now you will be able to install the drivers (you needed to replace the .INF file to do that).

6. Open the extracted drivers folder.

7. Double-click Setup.exe, follow the instructions.

Naw, you're fine. Drivers won't OC anything, you were probably just having a problem with your previous drivers that caused the performance to drop, and now that you have the latest the card performs up to its standards. It's all cool, you're fine.

EDIT: ^That is, if you have official, legit, not-tinkered-with drivers.

Yeah, If he just upgraded to better OEM drivers, he's good. I assumed he had tried something different from the anxious way he came off.
