Default Mouse Issue

Right, this issue is getting on my proverbials and needs fixing so here goes, prepare for verbal diarrhea!

Here is a sitrep on the mice:

Razer Copperhead: Main mouse, on this PC it sometimes flickers and dies, it works fine the rest of the time but sometimes it won't work for ages (an hour or so).
MS Optical Mouse: Can't look left or right and occasionally it freezes for a split second, usually in a close combat situation.
Dell Optical Mouse: Same as the MS Mouse AND sometimes going upwards causes it to spear off at an angle that's roughly 45 degrees.

All of these work on any other PC!

I've done a reformat to no avail, XP or Vista they both have issues. I've updated the Copperhead's firmware to no avail as well.

I'm thinking it may be the motherboard because my last one was faulty and most other components don't play a part in the mouse ops. (apart from the CPU)

All USB, I reckon? if so, you strike me as someone who's already tried different Ports, too, I would think. It *could* be a MoBo issue, but generally, failing USB ports aren't picky on what's connected to them, so if other USB devices work fine, hmmm...tricky.

Do you have a generic (mainstream-brand is fine, but no-frills (so no 17-button, 4 trillion DPI, satellite-linkup ones)) you could try, either USB or PS2?

I have tried a fairly generic mouse; it was another Dell but it was a ball mouse, the laser one and the MS mice were both the basic variants too and they all have issues. Agh
